Hey folks. Last year, Franklin County, N.C.-native James E. Alston (no known relation) was kind enough to donate a copy of his book "No More Mr. Nice Guy" to UNCG's Multicultural Resource Center. The book documents Alston's personal battle with discrimination in the corporate world, and his resulting retaliation via courtroom litigation. Alston's motive with the book was to burn a powerful message into the minds of corporate executives who may engage in unfair practices: "You have the power, discrimination is expensive."
I consider us lucky to have this work as it is currently something of a regional exclusive for us. Though the writer was reared in North Carolina, we are the only institution in North Carolina to have a copy according to Worldcat (three other institutions, located in New York, New Jersey, and Indiana, also list holdings for this work).
