Outdoor Adventurers of Color
Film: No Time to Waste    
September 13^th, 7 – 8:30 pm

Bring an outdoor chair to Price Park and watch this engaging film about the story of legendary 98-year old park ranger Betty Reid Soskin’s inspiring life.
The film shares her history as an activist, legislative representative, and park planner. She tells of her compelling work at the Rosie the Riveter/WWII Home
Front National Historical Park and her historical stories of people of color.  Greensboro Parks and Recreation also will share some great resources to enjoy.  

Waste-less Living for Beginners
September 17^th, 12 – 1 pm
Are you interested in a low-waste lifestyle? Come bring your lunch, an outdoor chair, and join us on the lawn in Price Park. Masey DeMoss, Waste Reduction
and Recycling Educator will provide some tips and techniques to start you on your journey.  

Waste-less Living Picnic
September 20, 6:30 – 7:30 pm
Bring a low-waste picnic dinner and join us on the lawn in Price Park. Masey DeMoss, Waste Reduction and Recycling Educator, partners with Laine Roberts,
Water Resources Public Education Coordinator, to reduce food waste while saving money, time, and water at home. To support home compost and water
conservation efforts, the City will be selling discounted compost bins and rain barrels. Join us and be the first to hear the details!
Participants will be entered in a raffle for a composter.   

Green Reads: Exploring Nature with Peter Wohlleben
Friday, September 24^th, 12 – 1 pm
Discover the writings of Peter Wohlleben including the Secret Life of Trees and other Mysteries of Nature titles. Wohllenben, who worked for the forestry
commission provides a unique look at nature based on his scientific research and personal observations. Bring a lawn chair and join us for a discussion in the park.
The discussion will also be available via Zoom.   

Waste-less Living: Intermediate Level
October 1^st, 12 – 1 pm
Have you started living low-waste living but want some ideas to take it to the next level? Come bring your lunch, an outdoor chair, and join on the lawn in Price Park.
Masey DeMoss, Waste Reduction and Recycling Educator will provide some ideas to challenge yourself.  

Nature Journaling in Price Park
Friday, October 8, 12 – 1:30 pm
A great way to connect to the outdoors is to start nature journaling. Bring a journal, pencil, and an outdoor chair and dress for the weather. Artist and educator,
Alma Stott from Greensboro Parks and Recreation will guide you through some drawing and writing techniques in Price Park.

Outdoor Adventurers of Color: Biking
Saturday, October 16^th, 10 – 11 am
Outdoor Adventurers of Color is a monthly series exploring opportunities for outdoor recreation, socialization, and engagement.
Bring an outdoor chair to Price Park. Shawn Byrd with the group, Black Girls Do Bike, will share information about the group’s
favorite places to ride and some of her most rewarding experiences with the group. If you’re an experience rider or are a novice
and want to get into riding, Shawn will have some tips on safety, biking skills, and ways to enjoy your biking more.  

One City One Book Outdoor Event
Environmental Justice and Indigenous People
October 29^th, 12 – 1 pm
Bring a lawn chair and join in an outdoor discussion to explore the writings of Lauret Savoy, the Red Nation, Dina Gilio-Whitaker and
others who portray historic and current attempts by indigenous people to protect and preserve our natural world. The discussion also will

Project Learning Tree Outdoor Workshop
November 3, 1 – 5 pm
Formal and non-formal educators will engage in outdoor activities that can be used to teach children about their natural world. Participants will
receive the newly released Project Learning Tree Curriculum, Explore Your Environment and can earn CEUs and credit towards the NC Environmental
Education Certification. Two hours of pre-assignments will need to be completed prior to the in-person outdoor workshop.
There is a cost for workshop materials.   

Outdoor Adventurers of Color: Farming
November 8, 9 – 10 am

about the amazing story of Sunset Market Gardens, David and Nneka Williams and their family. The family owns and farms a 12 acre farm
with one acre of intensely planted Certified Organic gardens. The family and farm focus on family, horticulture, food, cooking, fitness and health. Learn about their family’s journey into farming.

Fall Outdoor Wildlife Stroll
November 17, 7 – 8 pm
Shorter daytime hours doesn’t lessen your ability to connect with the natural world. Mary Frances Rosa, environmental educator with REI will
lead you through a nighttime stroll. Discover ways that you can observe wildlife in diminished light and temperatures. Mary Frances Rosa,
environmental educator with REI will engage you in outdoor techniques in Price Park. Dress for trail walking and we will provide a small journal for note taking.  

One City One Book Outdoor Event
Nature Signs
November 19^th, 12 – 1:30 p m
“Being Indian has never been about returning to the land. The land is everywhere or nowhere” by writer Tommy Orange. Discover how to read and
navigate in nature using signs in the weather, water, wind and from animals. Come for this fun interactive program and dress for the outdoors and the weather.
