The PLANIT GSO Comprehensive Plan, which is currently in progress, will be Greensboro’s guide for growth and development over the next 20 years. During the Vision and Goals phase of developing PLANIT GSO, we heard many participants comment on the vital importance of incorporating sustainability throughout the Plan. City staff have refined the Plan's draft Vision and Goals in order to reflect the extensive input we’ve received related to sustainability and other topics.
Sustainability offers a comprehensive way of thinking about, creating and implementing plans. Greensboro is taking this approach by addressing these three perspectives throughout the Comprehensive Plan:
- Environmental Stewardship - Taking care of our natural resources and the natural systems that support all living things
- Social Equity - Ensuring that all residents benefit from fair and just treatment in the distribution of public services and have a voice in governance
- Economic Resilience - Building our local economy to withstand and adjust to disruptions and changes in the regional, national, and global economy.
These perspectives are being integrated into the plan's goals, strategies, and guidance for future decisions.
Please join members of the Greensboro Community Sustainability Council and Planning Department staff for an open conversation to begin creating strategies and principles of sustainability for the PLANIT GSO Comprehensive Plan:
