Normally I don't watch "60 minutes," but somehow I randomly caught this on Sunday night and thought I would share with you all.
It's a 14 minute segment titled "Stealing History" that focuses on the theft of archival documents and other historical artifacts primarily by Barry Landau from the National Archives. However, it also mentions several historical societies and other archives that have been targeted by thieves. http://www.cbsnews.com/video/
As an archivist, this is just another stark reminder that we need to be aware of our patrons and what they are doing once we give them access to our documents. It is also a sad reminder that thefts in libraries and achives do happen.
